PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As we look forward to our 50th anniversary celebrations, we relish the past, revel in the present, and recreate the future. Bryandale has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception in 1973. Originally known as Bryanston Third School, it was officially opened and named Bryandale in 1974. Initially housing 700 learners, Bryandale is now able to accommodate more than 1,120 learners. As the first public primary school in Africa to achieve Microsoft Showcase Status, we are proud to be pioneers in educational transformation and reimagining school experiences.

This achievement comes with a great deal of hard work and perseverance, allowing us to drive change and introduce 21CLD (21st Century Learning Design) skills. We are enabling our learners to be “future-ready.” We are proud that nearly all of our teachers are MIEs (Microsoft Innovative Educators), and twelve of our teachers have achieved MIEE (Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert) status. More teachers are currently undergoing their own innovative transformation. We have lead FP Mathematics teachers at the cluster level who conduct workshops for schools, and a Jolly Phonics facilitator who trains teachers across the country.

A highlight for one of our teachers was being placed in the Top 3 for the National Teacher Awards, as it was the first time the school had submitted an entry for the awards. Bryandale has shown its ability to transform, especially over the past three years. Through financial acumen and strategic planning, we have ensured that the core business of teaching and learning was not disrupted during the recent pandemic. In alignment with our vision and mission statement, we strive to be exceptional. We take pride in continuing to provide learners with virtual access to the classroom for test and exam revision, support programs, and fortification lessons via TEAMS.
